Whereas the Washington State Democratic Party has a long-held commitment to inclusivity and diversity among elected officials and party members, and
Whereas existing Washington State Democratic Party platform, rules, guidelines, resolutions, and operating principles advocate for the inclusion of underserved groups in our society based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, age, income, first language, nation of origin, abilities, and other elements, and
Whereas representation within the Washington State Democratic Party elected officials, commissions, committees, and membership has not yet achieved parity in representation by the above groups, and current efforts are inadequate to the stated goals of the Washington State Democratic Party (WSDCC).
Therefore, Be It Resolved that we, the Washington State Democratic Party (WSDCC) actively pursue diverse members, candidates, and support diverse elected officials to move toward demographically representative engagement at all levels of the Washington State Democratic Party, and
Therefore, Be It Further Resolved that the Washington State Democratic Party (WSDCC) double the existing involvement members, candidates, and elected officials of “Targeted Groups” as defined by the Washington State Delegate Selection and Affirmative Action Plan of 2018 by 2022, and
Therefore, Be It Finally Resolved that specific and required events, activities, publicity, community outreach, membership enrollment, candidate endorsement and support, and elected official mentorship occur on an annual basis until the representation of diverse and underserved citizens are twice the current level.
